I spent some time at the Lower Allen Community Park today to thank Girl Scout Gold Award candidate Katie Clark for her efforts and energy spent installing a butterfly garden at LACP just to the left of the Fun Fort concession stand.
According to her, Katie spent three months preparing the ground, finding the plants, and getting the garden into its current fantastic condition. The garden is home to many perennials plus some annuals, and will require long term care to flourish. Katie's troop leader and Gold Award adviser said providing that care has also been considered in the project plan.
Katie had several friends and family supporting her today at the park. Also, Township Manager Tom Vernau and Rec and Parks Committee Chair Scott Duncanson attended.
Kudos, Katie, and best of luck as you work towards your Gold Award.
