I received an email - as undoubtedly you all did who subscribed to the PennDOT mailing list - about some more blasting planned for next week in the Rt. 15/581 project:
"Road Closures on US 15 and Lower Allen Drive for Blasting, Beginning Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Additional blasting operations are scheduled for the US 15/PA 581 Reconstruction Project. The initial round of blasting, which excavated for two of the ramps at the US 15/Lower Allen Drive Interchange, is complete. These additional blasting operations will excavate for a third ramp, several pipe trenches, and a retaining wall foundation in the Lower Allen Drive area.
Short-term traffic stoppages on US 15 Northbound and Southbound and Lower Allen Drive should be expected for blasting operations, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The first blast is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2008, and the blasting is anticipated to occur over the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Just before the blast, traffic on Lower Allen Drive and US 15 Northbound and Southbound will be stopped by the Lower Allen Township Police. Once the blast is complete, the area will be inspected to ensure that the roadway is safe for travel, and traffic will be restored. These stoppages will be limited to a duration of 15 minutes.
The above information for the US 15/PA 581 Reconstruction Project in Cumberland County is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Interested individuals may obtain an overview of the project as well as monthly updates by accessing the project's website at www.penndot8.com."
