At its Monday, Sept. 29 special meeting, the LAT BOC authorized the Township manager and president commissioner to sign leases presented for 1993 Hummel Av. provided the cost of renovations to the leased space do not exceed 10% of the annual lease value. I seconded this motion, and joined in unanimously approving it.
While the old municipal building has been listed for some time, we have not found a buyer. In order to bring in some revenue as soon as possible, I believe this plan of action is in the best interests of LAT, and may serve to position us better for an actual sale in the future.
At the same meeting, the BOC directed the solicitor to explore the formation of a development authority.
If we are going to move forward on the opportunities identified in the 2006 Comprehensive Plan, an authority is one good way to do it.
