Lost in the hullabaloo over the proposed 2009 tax increase, the LAT BOC, at its Monday, Dec. 8 meeting, officially disapproved "Ordinance 2008-03, an Ordinance to amend the Lower Allen Township Zoning Ordinance by adopting a Conservation Park Overlay District which would apply to lands zoned R-2 Single Family Rural Residential District and include applicable development standards."
What, you say, I thought that happened at an earlier meeting? You aren't the only one.
In Chris Courogen's Nov. 24 post on PennLive, he wrote:
"Lower Allen Township has rejected Liberty Forge Golf Course's request for a change in the township's zoning laws that would have allowed nearly 600 luxury apartments to be built adjacent to the course...."
Not so.
A check of the agenda for the meeting indicates what the Board voted on that evening:
"10. PRESIDENT TITZEL
a. Approve or disapprove authorizing the Solicitor to prepare an adjudication in re:... the application of Liberty Forge Golf Course, Inc., which proposes to create a Conservation Park Overlay District...."
On Nov. 24, the BOC authorized Solicitor Steve Miner to prepare an adjudication on the Sept. 15 public hearing.
On Dec. 8, the BOC accepted the adjudication AND disapproved the proposed ordinance.
Splitting hairs? Maybe, but it's a very important hair.
