I Nearly Got Hit by a Wrong-Way Driver. Your Passwords Are Just as Vulnerable.

I recently drove to Cleveland for a content creator expo. It’s an easy five hour drive. A simple trip.

Usually.

Outside of Pittsburgh, approaching an exit, I did a double take. I couldn’t believe what I saw.

A small black two-door sedan was heading TOWARDS ME. In the passing lane. Heading east. I was heading west.

Terrified, I swerved to the right to give the oncoming car more room to pass. Hit the horn and the hazard lights to get their attention.

Thankfully, they missed me, but in my rear view mirror, I saw brake lights and headlights; a sub-optimal combination.

I think the black car avoided a collision, at least I hope it did.

Although the terrifying moment passed quickly, it lingered. I called my girlfriend, related the story, laughed out loud at my somersaulting stomach, then kept going.

As I thought about how lucky I’d been, I thought back to a conversation I’d just had the day before.

We All Have A “System”

Before the conference, friends visited from out of town. We enjoyed catching up with great wine and delicious food; a truly special evening.

Before dinner, we talked about what I’m building with my website and the services I’m developing to help you with technology. Some of my password manager posts had caught their eye.

Turns out that, like almost 70% of adults, they do not use a password manager. Instead, they’ve adopted one of the popular alternate and unsafe ways people choose to track usernames and login information which include memorization, letting a web browser remember them, or using the same password for every account.

The problem with those methods is they work until they don’t. If something goes wrong—and something will always go wrong—the old faithful method fails. You wind up at the very least spending hours resetting passwords or, at worst, falling victim to identity theft and losing money you will never recover.

The Inevitable Calamity

Think of it like my drive down the Pennsylvania Turnpike today.

When I got behind the wheel, I never thought I’d face a car hurtling towards me going the wrong way on a four-lane interstate highway.

And yet, against roughly 20 million to one odds—thanks for the calculation, ChatGPT—it happened.

If you do not use a password manager with end-to-end encrypted systems to secure your sign-ins, you will be a victim. It’s not a matter of “if” something bad will happen, but rather “when.”

Don’t let yourself become the next identity theft statistic.

How Can I Help?

It starts with a chat.

Contact me through the Services page today. We’ll have a conversation.

We’ll talk about your current passwords habits and how you store logins. I’ll describe how I will work with you to either help you start using a password manager. That can be as simple as installing apps and browser extensions and resetting permissions, or it can include having me move your logins into the new system for you.

Whichever you choose, it will be simple, straightforward, and customized.

If you work with me now, all I’ll ask in return is, if the process went well, a review or testimonial about my work. You’ll help me improve my service and get password manager peace of mind in return.

My friends decided to have me work with them this fall. They’ll be up and running quickly.

Join them. Contact me today.

Let’s work together to keep disaster at bay. The 30 minutes you spend now will save you untold hours of misery and expense later.
